The celebrations started early on Thursday 24th August when Box Hill School students and teachers came together to share the 2017 GCSE results.
Despite the changes in the grading system this year, Bright World Partner School are thrilled with an 80% A*- C pass rate which is nearly 15% higher than the national average. This is particularly rewarding in the context of a non-selective approach to education which also puts holistic learning at the core of school life.
Box Hill always celebrate individual success stories and of particular note this year was the performance of Ruby Wyles (pictured below right,) Annabel Whitehouse (pictured below left) and Jason Leung who between them were awarded 20 A*s, 8 As, 3 Bs and 2 Cs.
Annabel Whitehouse, who has been a day girl at Box Hill for 5 years said “I couldn’t have done it without my teachers' support and encouragement, and I'm over the moon to have got such great results”
Jason, one of the school's international boarders, also commented “I am very happy with my results, I hoped that the revision would pay off and it has. I am really looking forward to coming back to school in September to start my A Levels.”
Headmaster Mr Cory Lowde said "We have worked tremendously hard over the last year to ensure, as always, that we provide extraordinary value added for every student. To see so many positive results, exceeding our own internal targets, is a testament to everybody's hard work and it rounds off a splendid summer of achievement.”
