On Thursday 21st September 2017, 35 students from Years 7-13 at Bright World partner school, Box Hill School, celebrated their outstanding LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) exam results with 12 Distinctions and 23 Merits.
The co-ed boarding school, based in Surrey, were pleased to invite all family and friends in for a special evening of awards and performances.
LAMDA has been offered at Box Hill School for approximately 19 years and fits perfectly with the school’s ethos of an excellent all round education. It has become a very valuable subject in its own right as it provides students with essential life skills and attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas. They learn the art of public speaking, conversation, expressing opinions, and of course develop their performance skills, all of which can help to prepare them for the future and real life!
Mrs Caroline Lowe, who has taught LAMDA at Box Hill School for 16 years and is a member of the Board of examiners for LAMDA said “I am delighted with our continued 100% pass rate for the June examinations. The highest mark achieved this year was 97% for Public Speaking”.
“These results are particularly notable as they include 18 medal examinations which all carry valuable UCAS points, with Distinctions for Gold medals in both Acting and Public Speaking. I am very proud of all my pupils who have gained these results through their hard work, ability and enthusiasm. We will be working again this year to maintain this very high standard set by my pupils.”
Headmaster Mr Cory Lowde commented “I was delighted to be in the audience for the students’ performances, to see such talent, enthusiasm and confidence in their speeches and monologues was simply inspiring. The ability to present to an audience and bring the written word to life so effortlessly will stand them all in great stead in the future. I am immensely proud of their efforts and of the staff who have helped them to achieve these results”.
