Alexanders get sporty in 2012

It seems Alexanders International School have had a tough sporting month

- in addition to their normal packed timetable students and staff took part in a whole week of fund raising activities to raise money for Sport Relief. Sports Relief and Comic Relief are renowned charities who strive for a just world free from poverty.

Students and staff set themselves a high target to raise £1000 and had 20 different activities going on during this hectic week - after school activities and competitions, charity sport games culminating on Friday 23rd March with an afternoon of games and activities.

Activities included: Badminton, Tag Rugby, Table Tennis, Football, Tennis, Sunrise Run, Counter Strike Tournament, Non -Uniform Day, Head of Sport for a day, Staff Dressing up in Costumes etc!

Friday was fortunately a sunny day and the students and staff completed a Sport Relief Mile, some in costumes and some wearing their Sport Relief T-shirts. After the Mile students were given the opportunity to throw wet sponges at the Principal and the Head of Boarding for a donation toward Sport Relief! There were also sprinting contests and a Silly Billy Olympics.

The whole week was a great success and the School comfortably reached the target and in fact went well beyond! Managing Partner, Mr Ben Toettcher, agreed to double any amount raised and the final contribution was a staggering £2444.34!!!

Our thanks to all the students and staff who raised money and to those who donated on the website. Apart from raising such a huge amount the School also succeeded in raising awareness of this very worth while cause.

Well done everyone!
