It certainly has been a very busy Spring Term here at Bright World. February saw the team waving a temporary goodbye to Guardianship Care Manager Jenny Rumble, as she left on maternity leave. We are excited to announce that Jenny has now had a lovely, healthy baby boy named Jesse. Both mother and baby are doing well and Jenny will be introducing the littlest member of the Bright World family to us all very soon.
In Jenny’s absence, Bright World’s Guardianship Care team has grown with the addition of two new members of staff. Casper Jones looks after students in Bristol, Wiltshire, West Sussex, Cambridge, Norfolk and Suffolk. Outside of work, Casper’s main passions are music, travelling, acting and producing his own stage shows. Si Cluskey looks after students in Cambridge, East Sussex, East Kent, Hertfordshire and Central London. As an ex-navy officer, Si has a meticulous attention to detail and after their first few weeks, we are confident that both will be excellent in their new roles.
Bright World Invests in Training with the Best
On 28th February, Director of Safeguarding and Operations, Claire Taylor attended the Safeguarding Association for Excellence’s (SAFE) CSE Masterclass in Devon. SAFE prides itself on delivering up to date and enriched training on all aspects of Child and Adult Safeguarding, by trainers that have vast operational experience of the subject areas. Those who attended the CSE Masterclass learnt about the importance of putting safeguarding first, how took out for signs of CSE (Child sexual exploitation) and how to promote the welfare and safety of children.
News from our departments
On Friday, 24th March 2017, the Bright World team will be dressing head to toe in red for Red Nose Day. As a guardianship company whose main priority is the safeguarding of children, this charity is very close to our hearts and we want to do all that we can to help. All donations for our event are welcome and we will be sure to keep everyone updated on our new looks via our social media pages! Please go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Bright-World-Guardianships-Ltd to donate.
Marketing and Admissions
Aside from processing new student applications and agency agreements, the department has been very busy planning Bright World’s annual company conference. We are delighted to announce that this year's conference has seen an unprecedented number of education agents confirm their attendance. We now have very few spaces remaining for schools, so if you would like to attend, please confirm as soon as possible; you are more than welcome to bring a colleague. This year’s Key note speaker is Dr Graham Hill, Consultant Criminologist. Graham will aim to dispel many of the myths that surround child abuse predators and will discuss how we, as professionals involved in safeguarding, can better understand their behaviour.
Preparations are well underway for Bright World’s inaugural Relax and Revise Easter program. Over half term, students were introduced to the Colindale Campus, a brand new £120 million development where our Relax and Revise program will now take place. Saul Kim, a guardianship student who took part in the Spring half term Relax and Revise programme had this to say about the new facilities: ‘It was a great room! It was very warm and comfortable with as much food as I wanted’.
Travel and Accommodation
Due to the increasing number of guardianship students, the Travel and Accommodation team have been focusing on the recruitment of new host families. We are delighted to report that there have been a huge number of applications and the department is now taking the time to process and arrange home visits for successful candidates. Our current host families are now ready and waiting to welcome their allocated students for summer term exeats and half term.
