It’s a particularly busy time of year at the moment. Applications fly in as schools begin to offer more places; our guardianship, travel, and accommodation teams have half-term, exeats and the Easter holidays to plan for; technical developments and marketing trips are keeping our marketing department busy. Throw into the mix a long-term member of staff retiring and, well, you get the picture- we’ve been very busy. Despite this, we’ve all pulled together, and operations have been running as smoothly as ever.
As usual, we’ve been very busy visiting agents at fairs and conferences, both at home and overseas. Lana recently enjoyed a productive visit to Kazakhstan for the Begin Edu fair, whilst Charlotte recently attended the British Boarding Schools Workshop at Heathrow. Cory had a very successful trip to Thailand, and has just got back from the ICEF fair in Moscow. Katie Browne attended ST Alphe Taiwan, and Louis continues to visit our UK-based partner agents on a regular basis.
We’re happy to report continued satisfaction from all our partner agents, and we hope to build the same kind of relationship with all new agents that we have recently met.
Sheena Trist retires
We said goodbye this month to a Bright World stalwart. Director of Admissions, Sheena Trist, has retired following an incredible 14 years with Bright World. During her career, Sheena has placed over a thousand students, and handled applications for many more. Many of you have worked with Sheena, and I’m sure you’ll all join us in wishing her a very happy retirement. Cory Holden now takes the baton of admissions, along with performing some marketing tasks, in his new role of Admissions and Market Manager. Most of you will be familiar with Cory from his previous role as Senior Guardianship Care Manager.
Su Warren has returned to the team following the birth of her beautiful baby girl, Carla. She re-joins the Guardianship Care Team, taking responsibility for Cory’s guardianship students, following his move upstairs. We’re very glad to have her back.
Following the staffing reshuffle, Cory now takes up some marketing tasks alongside his admissions responsibilities, in the form of market management. Charlotte, Louis and Cory will now individually concentrate on agent contact in specific parts of the globe. All three have been very busy visiting agents both at home, and oversees, and planning future marketing trips.
Lana has been working very hard, alongside our developers, to establish the new Guardianships Toolkit feature on Blink for Agents. Each element of the toolkit is going to be released individually over the next couple of months. Charlotte and Louis have been very busy promoting this development, and also processing new student enquiries and enrolments for April and September 2018.
Our Relax & Revise programme in Cambridge continues to be a great success, following a slight programme restructure. Feedback was great for the half-term course, and students have now begun arriving at our Easter course.
Su has settled back in well, and the whole team has been busy sorting flights and arrangements for Easter, and the September intake. Our GCM’s continue to ensure that everything runs smoothly, and that parents and students are always kept up-to-date.
Travel and Accommodation
Our travel and accommodation team now aim to provide host family profiles to new students within 7 days of payment. This looks to be working very well, as it seemingly results in parents being far less anxious. Leanne and Fiona have been busy in their recruitment of new host families, as well as their planning for the exeat weekends, half term, and the Easter break.
Cory now takes over admissions at a very busy time, but he seems to be well on top of things. He’s already confirmed a few students for September 2018, and continues to process the many applications we receive.
We have received more applications than this time last year, with most now coming through Blink for Agents. Our new Summer School brochure is now available, as is our updated Boarding School Fees sheet for 2018/19.
