May has certainly been an unusual month for the Bright World team, and has seen us getting in touch with our wild side and making some surprising new friends.
Sheena Trist, our Director of Admissions, is a lady of many talents and when she is not overseeing our boarding school applications, she keeps a watchful eye over her very own chicken livery. As of this month, we are very pleased to announce that we have now added some feathered friends to the Bright World Team. Introducing The Bright World Chickens: Clucky McCluckface, Casper Ankerhen, Brenda and Omelette. We are very excited for all of our chickens to start laying eggs and we will be sure to keep you updated with their progress.
It is not just the Bright World Chickens that have joined our ever-expanding team. This month we welcomed Sam Gee (pictured above) to The Accommodation & Travel department as our new Accommodation & Travel Coordinator. Sam’s arrival comes as we prepare for the departure of those students who plan to go home for the May half term and so as you can imagine Sam has learnt masses already and has been a tremendous help over the past few weeks. We are confident that he will be superb in his new role.
Sam (pictured above) has also been very proactive outside of work and helps to continue this month’s animal theme by helpingout Whipsnade Zoo in Kent with their endangered rhino exhibit. The Rhinos of Nepal exhibit provides a fantastic new home for the endangered greater one-horned rhinos; there are only 2500 left in the wild but this is slowly increasing with help. Sam was lucky enough to feed Bali the greater one-horned rhino calf, who was born just in time to join the celebrations for World Rhino Day. We are very jealous!
Our Guardianship Care Manager, Su Warren (pictured below) also went wild this month as she abseiled an incredible 160ft for Guys & St Thomas Hospital in London. The hospital is very close to Su’s heart and we are pleased to announce that she raised an amazing £489.92 by taking the nerve-wracking plunge. Yet another fantastic achievement from our very charitable team; a huge well done, Su!
Back in the office and with their feet firmly on the ground, our Guardianship Care Managers (GCMs) have been looking ahead and confirming flight details for summer departures, ensuring that everything runs smoothly when the time comes. With half term just around the corner, they have also been preparing for this month’s Relax and Revise programme. We are now full but if you would like to secure your place for a future half term holday or for the easter break then please do complete our online application form. You can also click here to see our new Relax and Revise video and here to read our online e-book.
As for our Travel and Accommodation team, their main focus this month has been the recruitment and screening of new host families for the upcoming breaks. It is a very busy time for the department as they complete taxi checks and make sure that all students can get to their destinations on time during the holidays.
In the Marketing Department, the team have been busy researching and writing articles for this year’s edition of Bright Eye Magazine. Bright Eye is Bright World's annual magazine, which includes plenty of helpful tips for prospective students plus an interesting look at the cultural and artistic aspects of the UK. Due to increasing popularity, this year’s edition will be the largest publication yet and we cannot wait for everyone to read it!
Until next time,
The Bright World Team
