The Autumn term is now in full swing, and it’s been a busy few months across all departments. As always, once all the students are firmly settled back into school life, the first real hurdle comes in the form of the initial exeat weekend. We’re pleased to say that, despite a few minor hiccups, this exeat weekend was handled very smoothly, with all students safely accounted for by their designated host families.
The same can be said of the recent half term break. With largely positive feedback from students and host families alike, we’re greatly satisfied with our work so far this term. Now, with Christmas fast approaching, we begin to plan for the busy festive period, which will of course see most students travelling home. We are of course hoping that no flights are cancelled or disrupted but are preparing for all eventualities by keeping well up to date with UK airport travel news and information.
Once again, we’ve been very busy visiting agents at fairs and conferences, both at home and overseas. Lana recently enjoyed a productive visit to St Petersburg for the annual ST Alphe Russia event, whilst Charlotte attended the ICEF conference in Berlin- another successful trip. Charlotte also visited the British Boarding Schools Workshop last week, along with new Sales & Marketing Assistant, Louis.
We’re happy to report continued satisfaction from all our partner agents, and we hope to build the same kind of relationship with all new agents that we have recently met.
Work is well underway to ensure that we are GDPR-compliant by May 2018. Director of Safeguarding & Operations, Claire Taylor, is our nominated Data Protection Officer, working with James Foster to ensure all is water tight.
We hope to have a specialist speaker at the Bright World Company Conference 2018 so watch this space, and do come along if you are interested in learning more.
We’ve recently welcomed Jenny Rumble back to work after the birth of her beautiful baby boy, Jesse. It’s great to have her back in the team, and we’re looking forward to Su Warren also re-joining us in March, after her maternity leave comes to an end.
In July, we said goodbye to our Sales and Marketing Assistant, Rachel Gladman, who has moved on to a career in publishing, in London. She recently visited and told us that, despite missing everyone at Bright World, she’s loving her new role. Her replacement, Louis Allen, joined us in September, and has already settled in very well. Charlotte and Louis recently visited our students at Relax & Revise Cambridge and have now been very busy processing new student enquiries and enrolments for the January 2018 start.
Our Relax & Revise programme in Cambridge has been a great success, following our new collaboration with Cambridge Melchior College.
Summer recruit Robbie Piper has completed all his training and is thriving in his role as a Guardianship Care Manager. Our GCM’s continue to ensure that everything runs smoothly, and that parents and students are always kept up-to-date.
Blink for host families is proving to be a great asset to our Travel and Accommodation department, and has also received great feedback from the host families themselves. Leanne and Fiona have been busy in their recruitment of new host families, as well as their planning for the second exeat weekend, and the Christmas break.
We have received more applications than this time last year, and an increasing number of these applications are coming through Blink for Agents. Our new Summer School brochure has now been published, and our updated Boarding School Fees sheet for 2018/19 is soon to be, also.
