Sherborne is a small traditional English market town in the clean, quiet and safe rural environment of Dorset in the South West of England with good road and rail links with London. Sherborne Summer is organised and run by Sherborne International, based on the same high-quality standards as our year round schooling, using all our own expertise and facilities.
There are 22½ hours per week (21½ for 7-12yrs); including 15 hours of English skills, language and projects and 7½ hours of other academic subjects in English (science, maths, history, geography, cultural studies, art, drama and ICT). There are normally 6 students per class with a maximum of 8. We also offer placement testing on arrival, an Academic and House report every two weeks and an end of course certificate.
There is a full and varied programme of sports and activities including evening entertainment every day and excursions on two days a week. Sports include: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Coarse fishing, Cricket, Fitness centre, Football, Golf, Horse-riding, Rock climbing, Rounders, Sailing, Sea Kayaking, Rugby, Swimming, Tennis, Snooker, Yoga/Pilates, Zumba.
Fully residential in comfortable, furnished, well-supervised boarding houses, with single and twin bedded rooms. Residential house tutors live in the houses with the students. Food is cooked on the premises using locally sourced ingredients, with at least three hot options and cold buffet each meal, and snacks and refreshments available at break times and in the evenings.
