Dollar Academy has three boarding houses, which are beautifully decorated and furnished. Boarders usually share a room with one other, with single studybedrooms for sixth formers. Quiet study space and computer suites are provided along with tutor-supervised, compulsory study time. For recreation, boarders have lounge areas, games/tv rooms, a kitchen/dining room and access to acres of sports fields, an on-site gymnasium, swimming pool, all-weather courts, private gardens, art studios and music practice rooms. All meals are cooked and served in the school dining hall and a team of domestic staff care for laundry and cleaning on-site.

Entrance is by assessment and places are offered based on performance in entrance test, interview or existing school reports. Parents are encouraged to contact the school to discuss the interests and abilities of their child. Applications are accepted at any time of the year. Scholarships and bursaries are available.
