Bright World Hub: March Edition

Bright World Hub: March Edition

The days are longer, the nights are warmer and our bellies are full of chocolate eggs. It can only mean one thing: Easter is over and Spring is finally here.

March has been a very charitable month here at Bright World.  On Friday 18th, our Head Office team came to work dressed in red for Sports Relief’s ‘Wear It Red’ event. Each member of staff made a donation to take part and also contributed towards a sweepstake to guess comedian Jo Brand’s favourite form of exercise. Both events helped raise a grand total of £157.14 which will help to support some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people in the UK and around the world.  Well done everyone!

Our fundraising doesn’t end there, however. On 19th March for one night only, Bright World’s Accommodation & Travel Manager, Kate Hewson became ‘Girl-rilla Hewson’ in a charity boxing event for UK TV Channel, ITV. The event took place at the Grand Hotel in Brighton in front of an audience of over 800 people and was organised by UWCB (Ultra White Collar Boxing). UWCB have gained well deserved national recognition after being named the biggest contributor for the charity, Cancer Research UK, raising a massive £2.5 million in its first 2 years of existence. Huge congratulations to our Travel and Accommodation Manager, Kate for raising a grand total of £500. We were all very proud of you for raising such an incredible amount of money and for holding your ground in the red corner.

This has also been a big month for our Travel and Accommodation Department, as the team have been busy recruiting brand new Bright World Buddies for Surrey and Gloucestershire. We are pleased to announce that we have found an excellent pair and will be introducing them to everyone very soon. In the meantime, the department are currently updating their operations manual and organising travel arrangements for the upcoming Summer Term. If any of our students are unsure of their plans for the May half term, or looking for an alternative to homestay, we are now taking bookings for our Relax and Revise programme which takes place in London and allows you to relax in an uber-cool environment, do your revision and also be close enough to London to see some sights in your spare time. Please click here to view a digital copy of our brochure and please do not hesitate to contact Head Office should you have any questions.

As for our Marketing and Admissions team, Charlotte Hamson, our Director of Sales and Marketing was accompanied by Hannah Newton, our Senior Travel and Accommodation Manager to the BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students) Conference. BAISIS exists to provide help in the form of training, development, and mutual support to its members. Both Charlotte and Hannah attended informative seminars throughout the conference and met with schools who had also gained membership with BAISIS. Many of these schools were our existing partner schools and the conference provided us with the perfect opportunity to update them on our new programmes and news from Head Office. Charlotte and Hannah thoroughly enjoyed meeting friends old and new at our stand and during the networking dinner in Birmingham; we look forward to attending another BAISIS conference in the future.

 British Boarding Schools Workshop

Sheena Trist, our Director of Admissions was also accompanied by Managing Director, Lana Foster and Guardianship Care Managers Jenny and Su to the 10th anniversary of the British Boarding Schools Workshop (BBSW) and the 19th event overall. BBSW (pictured above) aims to get back to basics in a fast-paced technological age, by allowing schools and agents the chance to meet face-to-face, whether it’s within a scheduled appointment, over a cup of coffee, or at breakfast. Over two days, Sheena, Lana, Jenny and Su met with many UK boarding schools and carefully selected educational consultants representing over 50 countries worldwide. It was a pleasure to attend such a fantastic event and congratulations to the British Boarding School’s Workshop on their 10thanniversary. We look forward to continuing our support at the BBSW in the many years to come.

Until next time,

The Bright World Team
