University of Wales - Aberystwyth
Founded in 1872, Aberystwyth was the first university institution to be established in Wales. Today, it has over 7,000 registered students, including over 1,100 postgraduates across eighteen academic departments. Over 400 courses are available for undergraduates for example giving a wide and varied choice with over 70% of students taught in departments graded as ‘Excellent’. A popular choice with students, Aberystwyth has lowest ‘drop-out’ rates of any UK university, and in a recent survey, 95% of students said that if they had to make their choice again, they would choose Aberystwyth.
The compact and welcoming university campus is set amongst beautiful unspoilt scenery on the shores of Cardigan Bay, on the West coast of Wales. As a popular tourist destination, Aberystwyth has a wealth of facilities, restaurants, pubs and clubs for those students keen on pursuing a social life after their academic day. Additionally, students are guaranteed comfortable accommodation in the first year.
