For international students coming to the UK to study in a boarding school is a new and very different experience. Valuable time can be lost in the first few weeks of term while students new to the UK settle in. The sorts of thing that impede progress are homesickness, language barrier and lack of knowledge of our ways and customs. Full confidence rarely comes until students have been here for a few weeks.

The Bright World Pre-Boarding summer school has been designed by our guardianship team who are experts in helping students to settle into UK life. The course is also open to students who are thinking of joining a boarding school and who want a taste of boarding school life.

A truly unique course

The course has been inspired by the experience we have had with our own students. A 3 week course has been specially designed to tackle the main areas that students find most difficult when they come to the UK:

• English language training
• Seminars from guest speakers - guardians, host families, police, teachers and boarding house staff
• Student debates encourage students to take part in class and air any problems they have as a group
• Sports, fun and games to help students relax
• Outings and visits - see some of the UK and what we are famous for
• Meeting with their guardian
• Visits to boarding schools and to host families - get a sneak preview of what they are like

A wonderful location

The Bright World Pre-boarding Summer school takes place at St Andrews' School, Eastbourne - a lovely boarding school right by the sea. This is really the perfect way to prepare for school life or to get a taste of what school might be like.

Dates: 9th to 30th August 2008 - go straight to school after your course.
