The English for Education Summer Courses are the perfect preparation for students joining the GCSE course at UK boarding schools in September. The courses are also excellent for those who want a taste of life at a British boarding school.

All students live in safe, clean and well heated Boarding Houses on the Wellington School campus, where Boys and girls live in separate buildings. Rooms are twin, triple and multi-bedded at Wellington School. The Pre-GCSE Course Centre at Wellington School is 2.5 hours from London. Wellington is a traditional boarding school providing a safe environment for students to grow and develop. The School has excellent science laboratories, computer rooms, drama workshops, tennis court and swimming pool. Laundry service is provided once a week.

Students study academic, social and practical English, taught by qualified British teachers. Students study their main academic subjects for 30 hours per week, with special emphasis on technical English vocabulary. Students will also study Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business/Economics, History, Geography, Art and Design and Drama.
Students may come for the full eight-week programme or for a shorter four-week programme. The recommended full eight-week programme is like an extra term of school and gives students a great start at their next school:
30 hours per week - 15 hours of English plus 15 hours other academic subjects in English
Services, Facilities & Social Activities
The Houses have toilets, showers and comfortable lounges, and have Wifi access. The centre has excellent science laboratories, computer rooms, drama workshops, tennis court and swimming pool. Laundry service is provided once a week. Afternoon sports sessions introduce students to traditional British sports including netball, rugby, rounders and cricket, as well as many others. Social activities help students learn new skills and gain confidence. They often include a fashion show, business simulation game, speed chatting evening with British guests, end of course drama production and formal dinner and dance. We go on a cultural trip every week and students choose from a variety of Sunday Clubs.
The overall staff ratio is 1:5- students receive good care and lots of support. Resident House Staff sleep in the Houses and will be on hand to help students with any personal problems.A special feature of the Etherton courses is their friendly, talented British Student Hosts. After lessons finish every day, students are able to practise speaking English with lots of British Student Hosts. They are typically university students and work every day. They help with English conversation, act as mentors in homework time, and join in with sport, social activities, meal times, clubs and trips. Course fees are fully inclusive of all accomodation, meals, laundry, tuition, activities, excursions and airport transfers (subject to date and time restrictions).
