Bright World Guardianships oversees the pastoral care of international students during who are studying at UK boarding schools whilst their parents are still living in their home country. Part of our role is to find host families for them for short holidays.
We rely on our network of excellent host families to help us to care for our students during the times of year when they have to leave school. This is usually some weekends and half term holidays.
Hosting an international boarding student during their short holidays can be very rewarding, fun and educational for your own children and provides a valuable extra income for your family.
We are always looking to expand our host family network as our student numbers increase and are currently looking for host families in the following areas:
To ensure on-going monitoring of the safeguarding standards after the initial recruitment, Bright World Guardianships proactively undertakes host family spot checks. This involves the Local Co-ordinator (the student’s ‘Buddy’) going to visit students staying in host families who are randomly selected at Head Office. This process ensures both the student and host family allocations continue to be suitable, and continue to add value to the student’s stay in the UK. The Local Coordinator will select one host family to visit during the academic year. This visit is arranged with the host family within a certain time frame so that the Local Coordinator can visit both the family and student. During the visit, the Local Coordinator discusses the stay with the student and family. Their feedback is collected and submitted in a report to Head Office. We are extremely proud this process which enables us to proactively monitor the well-being of the student and the host family, and enjoy a cup of tea with them while we are there.

Our students generally go to Host Families during their half term holidays, which are usually 1 – 2 weeks depending on the school. Some schools also have exact weekends, where students are required to leave school from Friday after lessons finish, and return on Sunday at around teatime.
The simple answer is YES! Some of our students ask specifically to go to a family with no children - they may want a quiet house where they can study and there will not be much background noise.
You will receive payment for hosting, plus generous expenses. More details on payments will be given to you during the interview stage.
