Woodbridge School, founded over 400 years ago, lies on the edge of the historic town of Woodbridge amidst 45 acres of a secure and self-contained campus. Woodbridge town enjoys an extensive network of transport, including trains to London, Cambridge and Norwich. Stansted and Norwich airports are less than an hour from the School, with Gatwick and Heathrow two hours. Woodbridge School has 850 pupils ranging in age from 4 to 18, with an International Boarding House that caters for 50 pupils aged 14.
The Boarding House, known as School House, is run by husband and wife team, Adam and Cara Lubbock and their young family. School House sits at the heart of the campus and plays a vital role in the life of the Senior School. No one nationality dominates, and students travel from countries as diverse as: Korea, Japan, China, India, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Kazakhstan and the UK. Experience has shown that a boarding house of this size ensures that all students are well known to their Housemaster, he and is wife are able to ensure that their time at the School is happy, successful and well focused. Woodbridge is a community, which is proud of its coeducational background and the success of its pupils. The School’s academic record is excellent, with Mathematics, Sciences, Economics particular strengths, 99% of pupils progressing to UK universities, including Oxbridge, Durham, Leeds, York, Bristol and the London School of Economics.
Alongside the pupils’ academic achievements the School is able to offer its students the opportunity to participate in an extremely wide and varied extra-curricular programme: Music is of an exceptional standard. In recent times the School has had more pupils in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain than any other school in the UK and a number of pupils attend the Royal Academy of Music for further tuition. Chess is on offer to all pupils and a number of pupils represent the UK in international competitions. The School employs a full-time International Chess Master. Drama and dance are strengths and students benefit from the recently opened and professionally equipped 350 seat Seckford Theatre. As well as offering sports such as rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, tennis, athletics and swimming, the School also offers dance, basketball, fencing, sailing, horse riding, archery, badminton and many other less traditional sports.
