The school is small, all girls, with about 140 pupils, and provides a unique and happy educational experience within a caring and supportive atmosphere. A traditional curriculum is followed and academic standards are excellent.
The main house was built of traditional flint and brick more than two centuries ago, and is surrounded by lovely gardens together with the school’s sports facilities. These include hard tennis courts, a heated open air swimming pool and playing fields. Adjacent to the school is Lavant House Stables with two floodlit all weather riding arenas and the opportunity to ride in the beautiful South Downs countryside.
The girls boarding school house has an informal family ethos and many activities are organised for the girls at weekends. Older girls have single rooms, and younger pupils usually share two or three to a room. There is a special area for very young boarders aged 8 to 11. Sixth Formers are accommodated in a separate cottage close to the main building, where they are encouraged to be independent.
